ORlogic Launches Predictive OR Staffing Workflow That Turns Surgical Demand Forecasts Into Same-Day Staffing Action
A new mobile-ready interface, integrated SMS staffing communication, and enterprise-ready architecture help perioperative teams plan earlier and act faster.
Hospitals Often Don’t Realize There’s a Staffing Problem Until It’s Too Late
Most perioperative teams don’t learn until Tuesday or Wednesday that Thursday is going to be a problem: rooms drop off the schedule, staffing stays the same, and fixing it means hours of phone calls and last-minute texts.
ORlogic already helps hospitals and anesthesia groups forecast surgical volume weeks in advance. This release closes the remaining gap: making it just as easy to take staffing action based on that forecast.
Today, ORlogic announced a major platform release that connects surgical demand forecasting to staffing action—so leaders can adjust staffing proactively weeks ahead, not hours before cases begin.
From Forecast to Action, Faster
ORlogic helps perioperative and anesthesia leaders align staffing with expected case volume using predictive analytics. But translating insight into execution still takes time and manual effort.
With this release, when ORlogic forecasts a volume change, the platform now surfaces specific staffing recommendations—which roles to adjust, by how many, and at what projected cost—and enables leaders to send staffing changes to staff via integrated SMS, all in the same workflow.
What’s in the Release
Redesigned, Mobile-Ready Interface. The platform features a responsive, color-coded calendar that gives leaders at-a-glance visibility into coverage across the week. Leaders can click into any day to view ranked staffing solutions by cost and feasibility—and act immediately. The interface works on mobile, making it easier for charge nurses and directors to make decisions anywhere.
Integrated SMS Staffing Communication. When the system identifies a staffing adjustment, leaders can message affected team members via SMS directly from the platform. Staff can accept or decline, and ORlogic tracks responses in real time. This replaces informal texting, phone trees, and day-of scrambles—while giving teams more notice.
Enterprise-Ready Infrastructure. Core calculations now run on dedicated microservices, improving response times and supporting multi-site deployments across large health systems.
Why It Matters
Labor is the largest controllable cost in perioperative operations. Even small misalignment—one or two FTEs on a given day—can compound into meaningful waste over a fiscal year.
ORlogic customers have seen a 12.6% reduction in total labor cost per running operating room (OR), along with additional revenue opportunities through improved room utilization and capacity recovery.
By giving perioperative leaders tools to adjust staffing proactively—weeks ahead, not hours—ORlogic reduces both labor cost volatility and daily operational stress.
