Why I Built ORlogic: An Anesthesiologist’s Perspective on OR Chaos
By Mark Deshur, Founder & Chief Strategy Officer, ORlogic
For over 20 years, I’ve lived inside the operating room—not just as an anesthesiologist, but as someone who cares deeply about the people who make it all work. Every day, I watched highly skilled, compassionate teams doing their best in an environment that often felt chaotic.
Schedules shifted constantly. Rooms opened or closed at the last minute. Staffing decisions were made on the fly, often with incomplete or outdated information. Despite the best tools—strong EHRs, sophisticated scheduling platforms—we never had the full picture. We were flying blind, making critical decisions without real-time visibility.
The cost was burnout, frustration, lost efficiency, and missed opportunities to deliver the best possible care.
I Knew There Had to Be a Better Way
I saw talented colleagues burning out, OR leaders juggling impossible logistics, and patients experiencing unnecessary delays. All of it stemmed from one thing: we didn’t have the right information at the right time.
It became clear that nothing on the market solved this problem. We didn’t need another scheduling tool. We needed something that could connect the dots—forecast demand, align staffing, and bring calm to the chaos.
That’s why I built ORlogic.
Built in the OR, Not in a Boardroom
ORlogic wasn’t designed by software engineers working in a vacuum. It was built by people who know the realities of the OR—anesthesiologists, nurses, and clinical leaders.
We created a platform that pulls real-time data from EHRs and scheduling systems, uses AI to forecast surgical volume, and helps teams proactively plan staffing weeks in advance. It’s about restoring visibility, control, and peace of mind. No more scrambling the night before.
It gives you what we never had—the ability to predict your OR future.
This Is Personal
I didn’t set out to build a company. I set out to solve a problem I lived every day. I’ve stood in those morning huddles, fielded the late-night calls, and watched incredible teams pushed to their limits.
ORlogic exists because I believe we all deserve better. Our teams deserve better. And most importantly, our patients deserve better.
When the right people are in the right place at the right time, everyone benefits—our staff, our patients, and the organizations we serve.
That’s the future I built ORlogic to help create.
Let’s Bring Calm to the Chaos
If you’re ready to move beyond reactive staffing and daily uncertainty, I’d love to show you what ORlogic can do. Together, we can bring clarity to your planning, reduce last-minute stress, and create a more predictable, efficient OR.
Let’s predict your OR future—starting now.
